To the majority of us BMW enthusiasts there is something familiar about an e36. We looked at the body style for 7 production years during what might be the most influential time in European/Import car history. It drives like an old baseball mitt, predictable and always where it needs to be. Comfortable. The intake howl of a natural aspirated straight six is enough to make your hair stand up. It's funny, most of us complained about not getting the European hotted up S50B30 engine however in retrospect, the S50/2 we received was reliable, maintained a phat power curve, and had parts that intermingled with the rest of the inline 6s from BMW. Originally rated at 240 HP and 236 TQ, the 3.2 S52 that lives under the hood propels this car to 60 in the 5 second range. I'm sure if you're reading this you've already realized that this particular e36 is what's known as a M3/4/5; meaning M3 with 4 doors and a manual 5 speed which has been a desirable package. This car has been somewhat of a labor of love in the fact that we've replaced a lot of things on the car that just weren't up to snuff. The seats have been recovered with material sourced from Lseats, we've also replaced various interior trim bits as well as replaced the previous aftermarket steering wheel with DND. The shifter had severe play when we purchased the car, so we replaced the shifter detents and rebuilt the UUC aftermarket shifter assembly. We also installed a new M-Pact Stage 1 clutch while the transmission was out. The car also had a straight through exhaust that we replaced with a factory M3 catback. To round out the list we also replaced both front wheel bearings, both front window regulators, the accelerator pedal/hardware, had an alignment completed, and detailed the car up. Something to note; this car looks great in photos however it's far from perfect. The clearcoat is delaminating and we haven't replaced every interior bit, various items show their age. A/C blows cold, car drives great, and functions well. Give us a shout and we can tell you what we know about it.
